Although just a stump of the tree which gave Maple Court it's name remains and the people who lived here are different, the spirit and charm of the historical neighborhood and its well preserved and well landscaped homes built around the tree remain some 100 years after the neighborhood was founded.
Today, more than 30 years after the formation of the homeowners association, several of the original private owners of the Maple Court subdivision homes on Maple Court and West Street remain owners of the Ensign-Bickford Company built houses within the neighborhood.
Among current residents, the average age of Maple Court home ownership is 10 years with a range from less than a year to more than 32 years. Homeowners range in age from their late 20's to mid-80's. Ninety percent of the properties are owner occupied. Most have raised children here and continue to cherish this small neighborhood and its charming homes as they themselves approach or enjoy retirement.
Although the neighborhood was once a haven for small children, today there are just a few teenagers. However, during the past three years a number of couples moved into the neighborhood who are in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties and are interested in starting families.
The homeowners' association has been operating for 35 years and its board of five directors is elected annually.
Maple Court and its charming historic turn of the century houses are a tribute to the industrial transformation which occurred in the Town of Simsbury. The diverse families that continue to live in it and homes thrive as a quite, safe, convenient place to raise a family or enjoy retirement among soaring maple trees and scenic views of the surrounding bucolic landscape..
